Lawrence Weiner, rojen leta 1942 v Bronxu (New York) je predstavnik ameriškega konceptualizma.
Njegovo delo temelji na jezikovnem sporočilu v obliki besedil, citatov in analitičnih trditev.
V zgodnjih šestdesetih letih se je njegov opus začel s slikarstvom, nadaljeval z deli procesualne umetnosti, tekstualnimi deli, plakati, umetniškimi knjigami, tekstualnimi ambienti, scenografijami in filmi.
Znana je njegova izjava Declaration of intent iz leta 1968:
1. The artist may construct the piece.
2. The piece may be fabricated.
3. The piece need not be built.
Each being equal and consistent with the intent of the artist the decision as to condition rests with receiver upon the occasion of receivership.
