EXHIBITION | Marij Pregelj (1913 – 1967): A Retrospective

Marij Pregelj (1913–1967) is one of the key painters of high modernism in the history of Slovene art. This retrospective exhibition presents the most extensive selection of Pregelj’s oeuvre in the past few decades, continuing Moderna galerija’s series of study exhibitions of the most outstanding Slovene modernists, which has in recent years presented the work of Marko Šuštaršičo and Gabrijel Stupica.

On the occasion of retrospective exhibition we published an extensive catalogue edited by exhibition curator Martina Vovk, texts were also contributed by renowned curators and art historians Zdenka Badovinac, Marko Jenko, Miklavž Komelj, Svetlana Mitić, Katarina Mohar, Tomislav Vignjević and Nadja Zgonik.

EXHIBITION | Dušan Tršar: A Retrospective

Partial transfer of Dušan Tršar's retrospective, prepared by the Božidar Jakac Art Museum in Kostanjevica na Krki. The retrospective will also travel to the Gallery of Murska Sobota. Dušan Tršar's retrospective exhibition, which was prepared by the the Božidar Jakac Art Museum in Kostanjevica na Krki on the occasion of the artist's life jubilee, presented the most important works from his oeuvre, which has been created over more than sixty years. Moderna galerija offers a selection of his works from the period between 1966 and 1984.

Neue Slowenische Kunst – An Event of the Final Decade of Yugoslavia in Madrid

The exhibition is now traveling to one of the most prominent art museums in the world, the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, where it will run from 28 June 2017 through 8 January 2018. It is being opened on 27 June 2017 by the President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and by His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain.

EXHIBITION | JUSUF HADŽIFEJZOVIĆ | Depotgraphy

On the basis of this photograph, Hadžifejzović later developed a series of performances with the same title Fear of Drinking Water that dealt with the collective trauma of separation and loss and were staged in museums and galleries in Rome, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Pula, Podgorica, Seul, Antwerpen, Dubrovnik, Split, Prijepolje, Zagreb, Maribor and now Ljubljana.

EXHIBITION | Mladina 1980s

The display presents a selection of front covers of the controversial Slovene weekly Mladina, designed by design collectives and individual designers, and a number of key articles that well represent the politically, socially, and culturally turbulent period of the second half of the 1980s, especially between 1987 and 1989. That was also the time when Mladina became known as a periodical of radical and creative form and content, with its liberal openness and critical approach.
