MG+MSUM

Photo Archive

The MG+MSUM PHOTO ARCHIVE was launched in 1948, shortly after Moderna galerija was founded. Its own photo studio produced a rich archive that is also available to external users.

The photo archive keeps the following photographic materials from the field of modern and contemporary art:

  • photographs of artworks from the MG+MSUM collections,

  • photographs of artworks of Slovenian authors,

  • photographs of exhibitions and other events (especially those organised by MG+MSUM),

  • photographs of archival and similar materials,

  • video recordings of lectures and other events organised by MG+MSUM,

  • acquired photo archive material.

Most of the materials are of analogue nature and are being gradually digitalised.

Accessibility and Use of the Materials

The materials can be seen by arrangement on the premises of the Photo Archive. They are partly available on the Moderna galerija Collections webpage.

The use of the materials is allowed in accordance with legal provisions[1] and internal acts of MG+MSUM (Rules, Price List). The use of the materials for the purpose of studies and research is free of charge.
