The 20th Century. Continuities and Ruptures exhibition breaks with traditional linearity by introducing the topics of the 20th century avant-gardes and of the art of the Partisan resistance, bringing them into the national history of art on an equal footing with more familiar trends and, as a consequence, casting new light on the latter.

In the Museum of Modern Art (MG+), a new exhibition is now on view: a circular timeline with a selection of works that are an addition to and continuation of the permanent exhibition 20th Century. Continuities and Ruptures and a guide to same.

In the installation, Maruša Sagadin references architectural elements from public spaces, such as columns, arches, facades and benches. These forms are not simply translated; instead, their basic structure is expanded.

The Nonument Group (Neja Tomšič, Martin Bricelj Baraga, Nika Grabar, and Miloš Kosec) is an art and research collective that focuses on nonuments: hidden, abandoned, erased or forgotten architecture and public spaces whose meaning has been transformed due to political or societal changes.

The work builds on the film Yours is the world in which I move uninvited (2025), using the metaphor of ghosts or phantasms to explore the erasure and subsequent absence of people and our attitude toward them.
