aesthetic, performative, and political significance of the voice, viewed from
the perspective of visual art, dance, performance, and theory. The book, which
also documents the exhibition of the same title that showed at the
Wurttembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart and the Total Museum of Contemporary Art
in Seoul in 2012, explores the diegetic and performative characteristics of the
voice. This relates equally to voices that resist and to voices that are
disciplined and seek to discipline, to those that are heard and to those that
go unheard. The book also examines the struggle to find one's voice and the act

DIDI-Huberman, Georges, 1953-
Being a skull : site, contact, thought,
sculpture / Georges Didi-Huberman ; translated by Drew S. Burk. - Minneapolis :
Univocal, 2016. - 87 str. : ilustr. ; 21 cm
Prevod dela: Être crâne:
lieu, contact, pensée, sculpture. - "What would a sculpture look like that has
as its task to touch thought? For the French philosopher and Art Historian,
Georges Didi-Huberman, this is the central question that permeates throughout
the work of Italian artist Giuseppe Penone. Through a careful study of Penone's
work regarding a sculptural and haptic process of contact with place, thought,
and artistic practice, Didi-Huberman takes the reader on a journey through
various modes of thinking by way of being. Taking Penone's artwork "Being the
river" as a thematic starting point, Didi-Huberman sketches a sweeping view of
how artists through the centuries have worked with conceptions of the skull,
that is, the mind, and ruminates on where thought is indeed located. From
Leonardo da Vinci to Albrecht Durer, Didi-Huberman guides us to the work of
Penone and from there, into the attempts of a sculptor whose works strives to
touch thought. What we uncover is a sculptor whose work becomes a series of
traces of the site of thought. Attempting to trace, by way of a series of
frottages, reports, and developments, this imperceptible zone of contact. The
result is a kind of fossil of the brain: the site of thought, namely, the site
for getting lost and for disproving space. Sculpting at the same time what
inhabits as well as what incorporates us." --> s spletne str. založnika

"Throughout history, and all
over the world, viewers have treated works of art as if they are living beings:
speaking to them, falling in love with them, kissing or beating them. Although
over the past 20 years the catalogue of individual cases of such behavior
towards art has increased immensely, there are few attempts at formulating a
theoretical account of them, or writing the history of how such responses were
considered, defined or understood. That is what this book sets out to do: to
reconstruct some crucial chapters in the history of thought about such
reflections in Western Europe, and to offer some building blocks towards a
theoretical account of such responses, drawing on the work of Aby Warburg and
Alfred Gell." --> z ov. - Bibliografija: str. 243-263. - Kazalo

HAACKE, Hans
Hans Haacke / edited by Rachel Churner ; essays and interviews by Jack
Burnham, Edward F. Fry, Walter Grasskamp, Yve-Alain Bois, Douglas Crimp,
Rosalind Krauss, Leo Steinberg, Benjamin H. D. Buchloh, Rosalyn Deutsche, Luke
Skrebowski, Sam Durant, and Jack McGrath. - Cambridge (Mass.) ; London : The
MIT Press, cop. 2015. - X, 253 str. : ilustr. ; 23 cm. - (October files ; 18)
"For five decades, the artist Hans Haacke (b. 1936) has created works
that explore the social, political, and economic underpinnings of the
production of art. His works make plain the hidden and not-so-hidden agendas of
those -- from Cartier to David Koch -- who support art in the service of
industry; they expose such inconvenient social and economic truths as the real
estate holdings of Manhattan slumlords, and the attempts to whitewash support
for the Nazi regime, apartheid, or the war on terror through museum donations.
This book gathers interviews, difficult-to-find essays, cornerstones of
institutional critique, and new critical approaches by writers that include
Benjamin H. D. Buchloh, Jack Burnham, Rosalyn Deutsche, and Leo Steinberg.
Haacke's 1971 Guggenheim exhibition was famously canceled when the artist
refused to withdraw several proposed works, including one exposing the business
dealings of a Manhattan real estate company. This volume includes Edward Fry's
catalog text for that show, as well as Walter Grasskamp's "An Unpublished Text
for an Unpainted Picture," redacted from an exhibition catalog in 1984 because
of statements about the German collector Peter Ludwig. Other essays consider
such topics as Haacke's controversial commission for the Reichstag; the
activation of the spectator, from Condensation Cube to the Polls; the conceptual
continuity of his practice with regard to General Systems Theory; and his
delayed and problematic reception in both the United States and Europe. With
contemporary essays and scholarly reassessments, this collection serves as an
essential guide to critical thinking on Haacke's artistic practice, from the
works of the 1960s that engage with physical and biological systems to his later
interrogations of the social and economic underpinnings of art." --> z ov. -

Potiskani spojni

Friedlander, and Garry Winogrand were still relatively unknown, curator John
Szarkowski linked their work indelibly in the groundbreaking exhibition New
Documents at The Museum of Modern Art. Although few at the time could have
predicted it, New Documents signaled a watershed moment in the history of
American photography. What Szarkowski recognized in the three artists was a
shared fascination with the commonplace and a novel application of a
documentary language to personal expression. They like the real world,
Szarkowksi wrote, in spite of its terrors, as the source of all wonder and
fascination and value no less precious for being irrational. Their conviction
that life%s frailties and imperfections are worth examining remains today a
premise as vital as when they were first starting out. Despite the importance of
New Documents for posterity, no catalogue was produced at the time. Arbus
Friedlander Winogrand marks the exhibition's 50th anniversary and presents for
the first time, in full-page reproductions, the 94 photographs that hung on the
walls of MoMA, freshly contextualized with an abundance of archival material.
Essays by curator Sarah Hermanson Meister and photographer and critic Max
Kozloff, who originally reviewed the exhibition for The Nation in 1967, shed
new light on the enduring significance of the exhibition and on the legacy of
these three essential artists." --> z ov. - "Exhibition originally held at

KENTRIDGE, William
William Kentridge / edited by Rosalind Krauss ; essays and
interviews by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, William Kentridge, Rosalind Krauss,
Andreas Huyssen, Rosalind Morris, Maria Gough, Joseph Leo Koerner, and Margaret
Koster Koerner. - Cambridge (Mass.) ; London : The MIT Press, cop. 2017. - XVI,
187 str. : ilustr. ; 23 cm. - (October files ; 21)
"Critical texts and
interviews that explore the drawings, animations, and theatrical work of the
South African artist William Kentridge.Since the 1970s, the South African
artist William Kentridge has charted the turbulent terrain of his homeland in
both personal and political terms. With erudition, absurdist humor, and an
underlying hope in humankind, Kentridge's artwork has examined apartheid,
humanitarian atrocities, aging, and the ambiguities of growing up white and
Jewish in South Africa. This October Files volume brings together critical
essays and interviews that explore Kentridge's work and shed light on the unique
working processes behind his drawings, prints, stop-animation films, and
theater works. The texts include an interview by the artist Carolyn
Christov-Bakargiev, curator of the first major retrospective of Kentridge's
work; an essay by Andreas Huyssen on the role of shadow-play in Kentridge's film
series 9 Drawing for Projection; and investigations of Kentridge's work for
opera and theater by Maria Gough, Joseph Leo Koerner, and Margaret Koster
Koerner. An analysis by influential art historian Rosalind Krauss, the editor
of this volume, argues that Kentridge's films are the result of a particularly
reflexive drawing practice in which the marks on the page -- particularly the
smudges, smears, and erasures that characterize his stop-animations -- define
the act of drawing as a temporal medium. Krauss's understanding of Kentridge's
work as embodying a fundamental tension between formal and sociological poles
has been crucial to subsequent analyses of the artist's work, including the new
essay by the anthropologist Rosalind Morris, who has collaborated with
Kentridge on several projects." --> z ov. - Kazalo

Slow art : the experience of looking, sacred images to James Turrell /
Arden Reed. - Oakland : University of California Press California, cop. 2017. -
XVI, 325 str., [8] str. pril. : ilustr. ; 26 cm
"Americans, on average,
spend between six and ten seconds with individual artworks in museums or
galleries-hardly time enough. But how, in our culture of distraction, might we
extend attention? Slow Art models sustained ways of looking, through encounters
with various media both present and past-including photography, painting,
sculpture, "living pictures," film, video, digital and performance art-even
light and space. Works by Diderot, Emma Hamilton, Oscar Wilde, Jeff Wall, Sam
Taylor-Johnson, Andy Warhol, and Richard Serra, among others, shape a new and
distinct aesthetic field. But rather than a collection of objects, slow art is
participatory-it directly engages beholders to bring artworks to life. Against
current orthodoxy, Arden Reed argues that, for contemporary viewers, the
contemplation of slow art is akin to religious practices during the ages of
faith." --> z ov. - Bibliografija: str. 291-303. - Kazalo

/ Allan Sekula. - 2nd ed. - London : Mack, cop. 2016. - XVII, 259 str. :

"Long out of print, this seminal collection of essays
and photographs by artist, theorist and filmmaker, Allan Sekula was originally
published by the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1984. Sekula sought
to portray the inextricable bond between labour and material culture, drawing
deeply on Marxist theory to argue passionately for a collective model of
progress. Sekula taught at California Institute of Arts (CalArts) from 1985
until his death in 2013, and from that insider's position he critiqued
photography and the circumstances of its production and consumption, exposing
what the medium failed to represent women, labourers, minorities and the
institutional structures that reinforce cultural biases." --> s spletne str.

"Knjiga dr Nikole Dedića "Slika u doba medija: Dragomir Ugren" je naučna
monografija koja analitički, kritički i sintetički razmatra slikarsko delo
Dragomira Ugrena. Dedić je na analizama i raspravama slikarstva Dragomira Ugrena
razvio složenu teorijsku raspravu statusa i fenomena slike i slikarstva u
savremenoj umetnosti Zapada. Razmatrao je teorijska pitanja definisanja
slikarstva, slike i savremene umetnosti u odnosu na teorijske i estetičke
probleme smrti slike / slikasrtva, pozicioniranja apstraktne umetnosti u
postsocijalizmu, transformacije postmoderne umetnosti od neoekespresionizma do
neekspresionizma, takođe je razradio teoretizacije postformalizma i locirao
status umetnika kao "nematerijalnog proizvođača". Temeljna tema ove knjige je
status i funkcije umetnosti slikarstva u epohi novih umetničkih i masovnih
medija. Reč je o izuzetnoj naučnoj monografiji o delu istaknutog srpskog
slikara, ali i o nadgradnji teorijskih rasprava do metateorije savremene
vizuelnosti." --> iz recenzije dr Miška Šuvakovića. - Bibliografija: str.
