ANIMALS / [edited by Filipa Ramos]. - London : Whitechapel Gallery ; Cambridge (Mass.) ; London : The MIT Press, 2016. - 236 str. ; 21 cm. - (Documents of contemporary art)

Urednica navedena na vzpor. nasl. str. - "Animals have become the focus of much recent art, informing numerous works and projects featured at major exhibitions. Contemporary art has become a privileged terrain for exploring interspecies relationships, providing the conditions for diverse disciplines and theoretical positions to engage with animal behaviour and consciousness. Artists' engagement with animals opens up new perspectives on the dynamics of dominance, oppression and exclusion, with parallels in human society; and animal nature is at the heart of debates on the 'anthropocene' era and the ecological concerns of scientists, thinkers and artists alike. Centred on contemporary artworks, this anthology attests to the trans-disciplinary nature of this subject, with art as one of its principal points of convergence." --> na ov. - "Writers include: Giorgio Agamben, Steve Baker, Raymond Bellour, Walter Benjamin, John Berger, Jonathan Burt, Ted Chiang, Simon Critchley, Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida, David Elliott, Carla Freccero, Maria Fusco, Tristan Garcia, Felix Guattari, Donna J. INFORMATION / [edited by Sarah Cook]. - London : Whitechapel Gallery ; Cambridge (Mass.) ; London : The MIT Press, 2016. - 237 str. ; 21 cm. - (Documents of contemporary art)

Urednica navedena na vzpor. nasl. str. - "This anthology provides the first art-historical reassessment of information-based art in relation to data structures and exhibition curation. It examines such landmark exhibitions as "Information" at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1970, and the equally influential "Les Immateriaux," initiated by the philosopher Jean-Francois Lyotard at the Centre Pompidou, Paris, in 1984. It reexamines work by artists of the 1960s to early 1980s, from Les Levine and N. E. Thing Co. to General Idea and Jenny Holzer, whose prescient grasp of information's significance resonates today. It also reinscribes into the narrative of art history technologically critical artworks that for years have circulated within new media festivals rather than in galleries. While information science draws distinctions between "information," signals, and data, artists from the 1960s to the present have questioned the validity and value of such boundaries. Artists have investigated information's materiality, in signs, records, and traces; its immateriality, in hidden codes, structures, and flows; its embodiment, in instructions, social interaction, and political agency; its overload, or uncontrollable excess, challenging utopian notions of networked society; its potential for misinformation and disinformation, subliminally altering our perceptions; and its post-digital unruliness, unsettling fixed notions of history and place." --> iz uv. - "Writers include: James Bridle, Matthew Fuller, Francesca Gallo, Marina Gržinič, Antony Hudek, Eduardo Kac, Friedrich Kittler, Arthur and Marielouise Kroker, Scott Lash, Alessandro Ludovico, Jean-Francois Lyotard, Charu Maithani, Suhail Malik, Armin Medosch, Srinivas Aditya Mopidevi, Craig Saper, Jorinde Seijdel, Tom Sherman, Felix Stalder, McKenzie Wark, Benjamin Weil." --> na ov. - "Artists surveyed include David Askevold, Iain Baxter, Guy Bleus, Heath Bunting, CAMP (Shaina Anand & Ashok Sukumaran), Ami Clarke, Richard Cochrane, Rod Dickinson, Hans Haacke, Graham Harwood, Jenny Holzer, Joseph Kosuth, Christine Kozlov, Steve Lambert and the Yes Men, Oliver Laric, Les Levine, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Muntadas, Erhan Muratoglu, Raqs Media Collective, Erica Scourti, Stelarc, Thomson & Craighead, Angie Waller, Stephen Willats, Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries, Elizabeth Vander Zaag." --> na ov. - Bibliografija: str. 230-232. - Kazalo

- Biografija: str. 216-221. - Bibliografija: str. 222

Nasl. raztegnjen čez dve str. - Vzpor. nem. in angl. besedilo. - "The Ausseerland and the partly inaccessible landscape in the Austrian Totes Gebirge look back on a checkered political history. A great number of activities both supporting and opposing Hitler's fascism were focused there in the mid-1940s. The year 2015 sees the seventieth anniversary of the liberation of Europe from Nazi totalitarianism. Only few witnesses of these past events are still alive at this time. Many events are known, many interpretations contested, but an encounter with contemporary art that focuses on historic sites in the landscape, and decides to interpret these sites differently, is unprecedented. Six art projects in the landscape work with this individual and collective memory - from Clegg & Guttmann, Eva Grubinger, Florian Huttner, Angelika Loderer, Susan Philipsz, and Bojan Sarcevic. Published on the occasion of the eponymous group project and exhibition, this book is intended to serve as a walking guide and to give the reader insights concerning the historical background of the projects." --> na ov. - Bibliografija: str. 190-192

POLLOCK and after : the critical debate / edited by Francis Frascina. - 2. izd., 5. ponatis. - London ; New York : Routledge, 2010. - X, 383 str. ; 25 cm

"Pollock and After: The Critical Debate brings together key writings on debates about Abstract Expressionism and Modernist art history. It is an essential resource for understanding post-war American art and culture. The second edition has been fully revised and updated in response to new critical approaches to post-war American art. It includes nine new articles and a substantial overview essay by Francis Frascina. Articles are grouped into three parts, each with an introduction by Francis Frascina. Part One includes two foundational articles by the influential Modernist critic, Clement Greenberg, and represents the debate about Greenberg's work, with contributions by T.J. Clark and Michael Fried. Part Two focuses on revisionist writers, who questioned established ideas about Modernist art history, examining the relationship between Abstract Expressionism and the politics of McCarthyism and the Cold War. The third part, which is new to the volume, is devoted to recent developments of revisionist critiques. Contributors explore the work of Greenberg's contemporaries, the relationship between critical and commercial responses to Abstract Expressionism, and perceptions of cultural value in the 1940s and 1950s, and challenge assumptions about ethnicity, gender and sexuality in the construction of the 'post-war American artist'." --> na ov. - Opombe z bibliografijo na koncu posameznih prispevkov. - Kazalo

RESET modernity! : [ZKM Centre for Art and Media, Karlsruhe,16 April to 21 August 2016] / edited by Bruno Latour with Christophe Leclercq. - Karlsruhe : ZKM Centre for Art and Media ; Cambridge (Mass.) ; London : The MIT Press, cop. 2016. - 555 str. : ilustr. ; 25 cm

"Modernity has had so many meanings and tries to combine so many contradictory sets of attitudes and values that it has become impossible to use it to define the future. It has ended up crashing like an overloaded computer. Hence the idea is that modernity might need a sort of reset. Not a clean break, not a "tabula rasa," not another iconoclastic gesture, but rather a restart of the complicated programs that have been accumulated, over the course of history, in what is often called the "modernist project." This operation has become all the more urgent now that the ecological mutation is forcing us to reorient ourselves toward an experience of the material world for which we don't seem to have good recording devices. Reset Modernity! is organized around six procedures that might induce the readers to reset some of those instruments. Once this reset has been completed, readers might be better prepared for a series of new encounters with other cultures. After having been thrown into the modernist maelstrom, those cultures have difficulties that are just as grave as ours in orienting themselves within the notion of modernity. It is not impossible that the course of those encounters might be altered after modernizers have reset their own way of recording their experience of the world. At the intersection of art, philosophy, and anthropology, Reset Modernity! has assembled close to sixty authors, most of whom have participated, in one way or another, in the Inquiry into Modes of Existence initiated by Bruno Latour. Together they try to see whether such a reset and such encounters have any practicality." --> iz uv. - Dodatek k nasl. naveden v kolofonu. - Bibliografija pri posameznih poglavjih. - Kazalo

SLOTERDIJK, Peter
Spheres. Vol. 3, Foams : plural spherology / Peter Sloterdijk ; translated by Wieland Hoban. - South Pasadena : Semiotext(e), cop. 2016. - 909 str. : ilustr. ; 24 cm

Prevod dela: Sphären 3. Schäume. - "In this final volume, Sloterdijk's "plural spherology" moves from the historical perspective on humanity of the preceding two volumes to a philosophical theory of our contemporary era, offering a view of life through a multifocal lens. If Bubbles was Sloterdijk's phenomenology of intimacy, and Globes his phenomenology of globalization, Foams could be described as his phenomenology of spatial plurality: how the bubbles that we form in our duality bind together to form what sociological tradition calls "society." Foams is an exploration of capsules, islands, and hothouses that leads to the discovery of the foam city." --> na zavihku ov. - Opombe z bibliografijo: str. 829-887. - Kazalo

SPLENDOR, myth, and vision : nudes from the Prado : [Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, Massachusetts, 11 June - 10 October 2016] / edited by Thomas J. Loughman, Kathleen M. Morris, and Lara Yeager-Crasselt. - Williamstown (Mass.) : Clark Art Institute ; Madrid : Museo Nacional del Prado, cop. 2016. - 207 str. : ilustr. ; 31 cm

"Handsomely designed and produced, this stunning book highlights sensual paintings from the Spanish royal collections of the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid. Many of the featured artists were court painters under sovereigns whose tastes influenced the art world of the 16th and 17th centuries. This superb selection of twenty-eight paintings includes works by Jan Breughel, Guercino, Peter Paul Rubens, Titian, and Diego Velazquez. Included is Titian's Reclining Venus with Cupid and a Musician, probably painted by the artist for Charles V, and several works by Rubens, who painted a considerable number of works for the Spanish court. Informative catalogue entries accompany an essay by Javier Portus on the Spanish royal taste in collecting and the role of painting within European politics of the day and a contemporary response to understanding the nude in Renaissance and Baroque painting by Jill Burke." --> na ov. - Bibliografija: str. 189-197. - Kazalo
