MG+ | 2017

Marij Pregelj (1913–1967) is one of the key painters of modernism in the history of Slovene art. This retrospective exhibition presents the most extensive selection of Pregelj’s oeuvre in the past few decades. In the framework of the exhibition program an international conference Winners or Losers? Collections and Archives in Post-socialist Spaces will take place from 2 to 3 March 2018.

Programme of Museum of Modern Art plus Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova for the current month with guided tours, round table debates, discursive programme, talks, workshops and lectures.

The work by Andrew Hewitt, Social Choreography: Ideology as Performance in Dance and Everyday Movement (Duke University Press, 2005), intervened in and transformed the field of performance and dance studies with a unique blend of materialist theory of ideology and a fresh perspective on the key chapters in the history of dance.

Lastings – Passings taking place in the context of CoFestival is “a cluster of five compositional proposals that function as a moving audio image. We guide the visitor through the space: s/he enters into sensuous modulations, watching and listening to them, at once co-shaping them. Duration: 240 minutes.

The documentary series on Slovenian contemporary art Seducting the Gaze is a part of Slovenia National Television Station Educational Programme. Each documentary film (duration 25 to 30 minutes) presents two artists. Such pairs are sometimes joined by common poetics, visual technics or ways of thinking.

More than merely analyzing civil society in Slovenia in the 1980s, its contradictions and (anti-) democratic processes, the speaker will attempt to outline in his talk also some of the structural characteristics and the broader framework, which needs to be located in the socialist Yugoslavia of the late 1960s.
