As part of the current group exhibition For Your Pleasure artist Milijana Babić will do a reenactment of the performance Santa in the form of spontaneous street action in Ljubljana on Friday, 22 December.

The street action will take place in Ljubljana city centre between 12 and 6 pm, and will cover a few announced locations: Moderna galerija (12:00), Triple Bridge (14:00), and corner of Čopova and Slovenska Street (16:00), in a duration of half an hour each. You are welcome to interact with the performance!

Impersonating the character of a begging Santa Claus who collects money in a Coca-Cola can, the work comments on the hypocritical promotion of Christmas in the western world as the time of giving and togetherness, reminding on the role of the multinational company in the creation of the consumer icon.

Santa was initially performed in Ljubljana during the 2004 Christmas season, and later in numerous cities in the wider region and beyond. Exhibition version of the work based on documentation of previous performances is on view at Moderna galerija.

Santa was produced by the City of Women in 2004.
