Machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) are not new in the field of computer science, but especially last year AI became instrumental in general social developments, and will likely go on to have an as yet inconceivable, but undoubtedly extremely profound effect on the entire society.

Such both technological and social issues and visions also affect the sphere of art. Vuk Ćosić’s Nation − Culture uses AI as one of its key elements. How is it created, how does it work, how is it able to develop a sonnet-like text from a short tweet?

Marko Plahuta, an AI systems developer, will present how AI works in a work of art.

The discussion after the presentation will look at certain issues regarding AI, software and hardware in the field of art, and how the use of such technology affects the conservation, long-term preservation, restoration, and reconstruction of works based on the use of ICT.

Last but not least, using AI in the reconstruction of Ćosić’s eponymous original work (2000) takes on the role of a substitute technology or service – the activity of the users of MatKurja, the Slovenian directory and search engine of the time, but no longer existing today.
