As part of the publishing thread “Towards Collective Study in Times of Emergency”, art historian and Moderna galerija’s curator Bojana Piškur in her text “Troubles with the East(s)” explores the interconnected histories of Palestine and Yugoslavia. Moving from the Bosnian war and genocide in 1995, the unfolding genocide in Palestine, the history of Yugoslavia – its formative role in the Non-Aligned Movement and solidarity with Palestine – back to the legacy of the Ottoman Empire, Piškur points out the entangled threads, solidarities, and “troubles.”
