Ars Electronica and Deutsche Telekom Art Collection have announced the recipients of the ArtScience Residency: the Georgian artist Irakli Sabekia with his project Archive of Spatial Knowledge, and the Slovenian artist Špela Petrič with AIxxxNOSOGRAPHIES focusing on the use of AI in healthcare; Petrič’s residency is for 2023. The ArtScience residencies are dedicated to artists from Eastern and South-Eastern Europe who work at the intersection of art, technology, and science, and who are particularly interested in researching the social impact of technological developments.

Špela Petrič is a new media artist who has been trained in the natural sciences and holds a PhD in biology. She currently works as a post-doc researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her artistic practice combines the natural sciences and performance, and critically examines the underpinnings of our (bio)technological societies. Her work has been featured at numerous festivals, exhibitions, and educational events at venues such as the Centre Georges Pompidou, Nam June Pike Museum, ZKM, and Ars Electronica.
