On 28 and 29 November 2025, we the cultural workers of L’Internationale, are marking International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine.
We are outraged and devastated by the relentless suffering, killing and dehumanisation of the Palestinian people, despite the so-called ceasefire and plans for peace. As cultural workers, artists and poets, we struggle to continue our work in a time when basic rights and respect for life are ignored and constantly under attack.
We join the international call for solidarity with Palestinians. We must heed the call of Palestinians and raise our voices. We must keep the conversation alive, sustain the boycott, and pressure our governments to disinvest and impose sanctions. To the Palestinian people we say: You are not alone. The world is watching.
Since October 2023, L’Internationale and its partners have spoken out against the genocide and ongoing censorship and silencing within the cultural sphere. This has taken place through extensive publishing on L’Internationale Online, through exhibitions and programmes within our institutions, and through ongoing collaborations with Palestinian cultural workers and organisations. We recognise the strength of this transnational, collective voice and reaffirm our commitment to continue the work of solidarity until the Palestinian people are granted the rights enshrined in international law.
We are marking the 2025 International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine in three ways:
1. Collective actions and programmes: We are publishing a list of activities and programmes, organised in conjunction with local organisations, activist groups, and unions, taking place across L'Internationale partners. The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, actions and publishing.
2. Amplifying and joining local initiatives: Joining and amplifying local initiatives in support of divestment and an end to genocide, we are attending marches and actions on the 28 and 29 November and are publishing a list of initiatives on L’Internationale Online and through our social media channels. We will continue until the genocide is over.
3. Institutional responsibility and divestment: Heeding the words of our mission statement and ethics guide that rejects and confronts fascism and neocolonialism whilst foregrounding solidarity and planetary responsibility, we, the cultural workers, call on our institutions to:
- refuse and divest from sponsorship, partnerships or other forms of funding from individuals, corporations or other entities that are verifiably complicit in, advocating for, or whitewash grave violations of international law (such as war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide), racism or racial violence.
- commit to not programming artists, cultural groups or cultural products that are produced by entities that are verifiably complicit in, advocate for, or whitewash grave violations of international law (such as war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide), racism or racial violence.
