On 28 and 29 November 2025, we the cultural workers of L’Internationale, a European confederation of museums, universities and arts organisations, are marking International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine with our friends and allies.
We are outraged and devastated by the relentless suffering, killing and dehumanisation of the Palestinian people, despite the so-called ceasefire. We see the complete destruction and looting of Gaza’s cultural infrastructure, including the annihilation of museums and cultural sites. As cultural workers, we struggle to continue our work in a time when basic rights and respect for life are ignored and constantly under attack.
We join the international call for solidarity with Palestinians. We must heed the call of Palestinians and raise our voices. We must keep the conversation alive, sustain the boycott, and pressure our governments to disinvest and impose sanctions. To the Palestinian people we say: You are not alone. The world is bearing witness.
Over the past two years, L’Internationale and its partners have felt compelled to speak out against the genocide and ongoing censorship and silencing within the cultural sphere. This has taken place through publishing on L’Internationale Online, exhibitions and programmes within our institutions, and ongoing collaborations with Palestinian cultural workers and organisations. We recognise the strength of this transnational, collective voice and reaffirm our commitment to continue the work of solidarity in the horizon of liberation of the Palestinian people.
We are marking the 2025 International Day of Solidarity with the People of Palestine in three ways:
1. Collective actions and programmes: We are publishing a list of activities and programmes, organised in conjunction with local organisations, activist groups, and unions, taking place across L'Internationale partners. The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, actions and publishing.
2. Amplifying and joining local initiatives. Joining and amplifying local initiatives in support of divestment and an end to genocide, we are attending marches and actions on the 28 and 29 November and are publishing a list of initiatives on L’Internationale Online and through our social media channels. We will continue until liberation.
3. Institutional responsibility and divestment. Heeding the words of our mission statement and ethics guide that rejects and confronts fascism and neocolonialism whilst foregrounding solidarity and planetary responsibility, we, the cultural workers, call on our institutions to:
