Models of Coexistence is a discursive program introduced by Moderna galerija to find new ways of working and collaborating with its constituents. In addition to continuing along the path of topics such as the precarious position of artists, community-building with marginalized groups, and the promotion of solidarity, the program also expands on them through institutional self-reflection and forging connections with other institutions, associations and individuals based on the principles of situated knowledge, horizontality, and intergenerational collaboration.
The program is designed as four modules, curated by four curators. The first module involves the collaboration of representatives of public institutions and NGOs, and addresses the issue of the disappearing public space in our city. The second module focuses on establishing synergy with the current artistic production. The third module is dedicated to intergenerational and intercultural coexistence and relations, using the example of the Kantina café at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM). This module works toward reviving the former café and empowering marginalized groups such as migrant women, young artists, and members of the new cultural alternative. The fourth module focuses on the cinema by female directors from the Middle East, and this will be presented in collaboration with our international partner The Mosaic Rooms, from London.
