space intervention

The artist Slaven Tolj  donated his work Untitled, 1992, to the Moderna galerija's Arteast 2000+ collection.  Donated work is part of the exhibition Realize! Resist! React! Performance and Politics in the 1990s in the Post-Yugoslav Context,  on view at the Museum  of Contemporary Art Metelkova until 10 October 2021.

Slaven Tolj (1964) is a Croatian conceptual, performance and media artist, curator and cultural worker from Dubrovnik, Croatia. He achieved international recognition for his installations, body art, and performances presenting distinct political and social-cultural criticism.

Twe two lamps are part of a space intervention. During the 1992 shelling of Dubrovnik, valuable chandeliers from the Jesuit church were removed to safety and replaced with simple lamps. Slaven Tolj exhibited these lamps as anonymous, nomadic, refugee objects at the Kassel’s  Documenta X exhibition in 1997.
