Moderna galerija is joining in this year’s edition of the film-and-literature festival Summer on Screen and Between the Pages, titled Strategies of Resistance and taking place at the Slovenian Cinematheque Summer Cinema on the Metelkova Museum Plaza between 11 and 16 August 2026.
12 August at 8 p.m., artist and filmmaker Karla Crnčević will give a talk entitled “Bridging Futures,” opening a discussion about archives and invisible threads that connect different historical periods and geographical spaces through the question of what the feminist struggle means today. What are the connections between Europe and Latin America, between Marxist feminism and transfeminist movements, between the memory of the revolution and the unfulfilled demands of the present? In this context, the archive is considered not just as a space of preservation, but as a space of return, and feminism as a practice of relationship, resistance, and imagination.
The talk will be in English.
Karla Crnčević (1989, Croatia, Yugoslavia) is a dramaturge and film worker exploring the politics of images and sound through various formats and in various working conditions.
At 9 p.m., the film (Revolution, Fulfill Your Promise) Red Love, directed by artist Dora Garcia and selected for the festival by Karla Crnčević, will be screened. The film combines archival material related to the period spent in Mexico by the Marxist feminist and Soviet diplomat Alexandra Kollontai, and documentary images of contemporary feminist communities and demonstrations in Mexico City.
You are also invited to visit the current exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova +MSUM, which stays open until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 12 August and Thursday, 13 August. On Thursday, there are also guided tours of the exhibitions A Cosmic Collective: OM production and Its Second Coming and Archival Chain Reactions: Between and Beyond Archivo Pinto mi Raya, re.act.feminism, City of Women.
