Nabil Anani: Solitude, 2025, mixed media on paper

At the beginning of the year, Moderna galerija’s Arteast 2000+ collection received an important donation from the artist Nabil Anani. Anani is a key founder of the contemporary Palestinian art movement and one of its leading figures. His work explores themes of land, memory, and identity, often featuring olive groves, fields, and villages as symbols of connection to his homeland.

He graduated in Fine Art from Alexandria University in Egypt in 1969 and held his first exhibition in Jerusalem in 1972. Since then, he has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows locally, as well as across Europe, North America, the Middle East, North Africa, and Japan. His works are held in numerous museum and private collections.
