The PLASTIK FANTASTIK symposium is organized by the Moderna galerija in Ljubljana in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana, E-RIHS.SI, the National Museum of Slovenia and ARIS (P6-0282 Object as representation: taste, distinction, power), and the Erasmus+ program, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
The symposium (conducted in English) will be held on 22 April 2024 in the auditorium of the Moderna galerija/Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana (Cankarjeva 15).
Attendance is free, but please register HERE
The symposium focuses on the topics of storing, conserving, and restoring artworks and other objects made of plastic materials that are kept in museum collections. Museum objects made of natural or synthetic polymers can be found in every museum. Renowned international experts with many years of work experience will present their findings and share their case studies. The presentations will also include the latest research by Slovenian researchers, carried out at the Heritage Science Laboratory, the Restoration Center at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, and in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana.
