The Museum of Contemporary Art on Metelkova will house a display of the collection of contemporary art (the national and international Arteast 2000+ collections) and stage related exhibitions. The Museum of Contemporary Art will thus present art that deals with contemporary themes and media, including works that present the tradition of such art from the 1960s onward.

Guest curators: What, How and for Whom / WHW
WHW, a Zagreb-based curatorial collective comprising Nataša Ilić, Ivet Ćurlin, Sabina Sabolović, Dejan Kršić and Ana Dević, has been working in the field of contemporary art since 1999. In Ljubljana they will stage an exhibition based on the Arteast 2000+ collection and reflecting the awareness that we never work in a vacuum but always in a very specific place with preexisting structures, conventions, and methods of work. In addition to being aware of working here and now it is equally important that we try to communicate universally and that what we do can communicate with other environments and systems.

The Igor Zabel Competition: Memoirs of the Blind
Opening on 11 October 2012
Curators: Agnieszka Pindera and Daniel Muzyczuk
This is Moderna galerija?s ninth open competition for curators of contemporary art, entitled the Igor Zabel Competition for the fourth time running. It is dedicated to new approaches in curatorial explorations in the field of contemporary visual art and bears the name of the Moderna galerija curator who devoted his professional life to this. An international jury selected a project that will juxtapose the work of the renowned artist Yuri Albert and a young-generation artist Marcel Türkowsky. Both artists deal with the issue of blindness.

Marija Mojca Pungerčar, Time for a Walk
Opening on 11 October 2012
Curator: Igor Španjol
The exhibition presents the stories of two stray dogs that found a home in the porter?s lodge of the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. A wide social network gradually evolved around them, including the faculty staff, students, porters, neighbors, and people habitually walking by; some of the connections are quite surprising. In a documentary video, the dogs? lives are related by people who took care of them. In addition to the video there is a schematic representation of the interconnections between the protagonists. The artist explores the complex relationship between people and animals in the urban environment. The project presents a combination of formal and informal animal-keeping, where care for an animal does not necessarily mean its ownership, and makes us think about shared responsibility in a community and about a possible model of community care.
