Dear visitors,

Last night’s storm with heavy downpours has badly affected the Museum of Modern Art. Water entered several parts of the building, especially the west wing and some of the storage rooms.

An exhibition of Picasso prints had just been mounted in the west wing, but we managed to move them all to safety unharmed. As the exhibition rooms have suffered extensive water damage, the Picasso show presently cannot be mounted again.

With the help of the Ljubljana firefighters we have also managed to save most of the artworks from the affected storage rooms.

The Museum of Modern Art is now temporarily closed due to the damaged roof, exhibitions rooms, and electrical wiring. The extent of the damage will be assessed in the next few days, especially regarding the artworks that had not escaped the water.

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who were in the building during the storm and lent us a hand saving the artworks as well as those who offered their assistance today as we try to mitigate the damage.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM) has not been affected and is open as usual.
