Freedom to the Animals of the Earth! Freedom to the Angel Within!

cosmogram carved into megalith in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova, Lipica limestone, 70 x 120 x 250 cm, carved by Marika Pogačnik, 2018

Marko Pogačnik installed a Megalit in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova, which they have donated together with his wife Marika. On one side of this »big stone« Marika carved Marko's cosmogram with a theme of an interaction between animals and angel beings on Earth. On the other side, there is a stamp of the presence of a muse who brings creative inspiration from the centre of Gae.

Freedom to the Animals of the Earth! Freedom to the Angel Within!

  • By developing internal organs that can be “carried around,” animals have come up with something fantastic: the freedom to roam the landscapes of the Earth. Humans have inherited this trait of being moving beings from them, and have taken it to the point of absurdity.
  • By developing instincts, animals have paved the way for human intuition. This wonderful animal gift gives us the capacity to receive creative inspiration at any moment, be it from terrestrial or cosmic sources.
  • Animals have developed a sense of connection and unity in flocks, herds, packs, schools, swarms etc., so that they can live as a community. Humans have inherited this value as the capacity to start families, cultures, and societies.
  • We have animals to thank for developing the various ways of absorbing and distributing Earth’s vital force. They have taught us how to sustain life in embodied forms. Since then, the vital force has been able to flow freely on the surface of the Earth and be distributed among all living beings.
  • Once I had the honor of briefly passing into the body of an animal – a deer. That fully activated the animal in me. What amazed and thrilled me was the incredible alertness of animal nature. I felt completely present in my body and my surroundings every single moment.
  • And who is the angel inside the human being? The human soul that exists beyond the sensations and perceptions of the body? Our innate fairy nature, suppressed by the harshness of rational thought? Our ability to exist as independent creative beings in harmony with the oscillations of Earth and space?
