Untitled Time is a work consisting of a set of identical postcards with written instructions:

"Take time

Write this postcard to yourself and send it now

You will receive it sometime in the future"

The postcards are displayed in an installation which invites the visitors to follow the instructions and activate the work.

The act of sending the postcard to oneself and being aware of receiving it sometime in the unspecified future triggers the visitor's expectation and imagination of her/his future memory of "now". Receiving the postcard at a later time recalls the memory of the moment of sending it as well as the past imagination of its (then future) reception.

As the work develops in time, it slowly spreads beyond the confines of the exhibition space, extending to the private homes of the visitors, dissolving into a multitude of unique and personal messages. Through these processes, Untitled Time destabilizes the relations between the visitor and the artwork, memory and expectation, time and materiality.

Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec (SI/NL/NO) is an artist and musician working with invisible ephemeral phenomena and the notion of space. His artistic practice is a poetic exploration of relationships between transitory and temporal phenomena like sound, weather, and human activities, and the built environment and social spaces they inhabit. In his installations, the artist makes architecture sensitive to its immediate ephemeral surroundings and enhances the temporal dimension of architecture by creating situations where the outside and the inside, the unpredictable and the constructed, the permanent and the temporal converse. His works include interdisciplinary and mixed media installations, sound interventions and electroacoustic music. Vrhovec Sambolec is currently a research fellow at the Bergen Academy of Arts and Design (KHiB), within the Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Programme. He has shown and performed at the Kapelica Gallery - Ljubljana, ŠKUC Gallery – Ljubljana, Ars Electronica Festival - Linz, AV Festival - Newcastle, Museum of Modern Art – Ljubljana, MSUM - Ljubljana, Madrid Abierto - Madrid, Sonic Acts Festival- Amsterdam and PSWAR - Amsterdam, among others.
