Videogames are more than just big AAA titles – there exists a world of independent developers that explore games as an artistic form. An older title for this movement is arthouse games. The lecturer will tell us of their personal story, how they started working on games, how they became a part of the arthouse movement and how developers today are impacting the society, breaking norms, how this affects the larger gaming community and how this movement can be used as a force for good.
The lecturer is Nathalie Lawhead (1983, author of critically acclaimed Everything is Going to Be OK, also included in the permanent exhibit in New York’s MOMA). In their works they touch on capitalist culture and our relationships to technology.
The lecture will be in English.
