Mt Triglav after Mt Triglav
Mt Triglav, the action carried out by three members of the OHO Group in December 1968 in Zvezda park in Ljubljana, is undoubtedly the best known, almost iconic work in the history of Slovene avant-garde art, and probably also the most frequently reenacted one; Moderna galerija has two such works in its collection – Irwin’s Like to Like / Mt Triglav from 2004 and Mt Triglav on Mt Triglav by Janez Janša & Janez Janša & Janez Janša from 2007.
The initiative for the original 1968 Mt Triglav came from Milenko Matanovič, who wanted to brighten up the gray pre-New Year days for the people of Ljubljana, especially the old and weak who were unable to go to the mountains themselves, and present them with a humorous enactment of our highest mountain in the center of Ljubljana. Fifty years later you are invited to come up with your own version of Mt Triglav, one that will speak to the people of our day. Send your proposals to izobrazevanje@mg-lj.si. If the file exceeds 10 MB, post it online and send us the link. We will accept proposals until the end of the show and publish the best among them on our website.
