EXHIBITION OPENING | DRAUGHT | Robertina Šebjanič: Piscis ludicrous / Transfixed Gaze (Lygophilia)

In her video essay Piscis ludicrous / Transfixed Gaze (Lygophilia) the artist showcases the non-human subject, the Mexican salamander axolotl as a cultural heritage in the biopolitical (decolonial) conditions, displaying the connection between mythology and the contemporary world. Piscis ludicrous / Transfixed Gaze presents the subject through different narratives: either as a species facing extinction in its natural environment; or as a subject of scientific research.

MODERNA SALON – NEW PHENOMENA: FAN CULTURE
Modern technologies offer new possibilities of involvement for fans (of literature, film, music…), giving them unprecedented power to co-create cultural content. Fan theories are growing wilder, fan fiction sells better than Harry Potter, and many an artist’s biggest fear is letting their fans down. This year’s first Moderna Salon will broach topics such as the explosion of fan culture, the relation between artists and fans, and the impact of fans on artistic production. Joining us in the café will be the investigative reporter Lenart J. Kučić and Dario Nožič Serini (Dacho), member of the musical sensation Matter. Discussion moderators: Hana Hawlina and Nace Zavrl. Event organized by– Hana Hawlina, Klara K. Rupert and Nace Zavrl.
